The Pequod is the blog of a mere painstaking borrower and grubworm of a poor devil of a sub-sub librarian...otherwise known as a PhD research student.

Writing under the pseudonym Ishmael, the blog records his experiences as a postgraduate in English Literature at a UK university. Many of the posts reflect his interdisciplinary research interest in the relationships between science and culture. When not staring at books, he happily stares down the viewfinder of a camera as a keen photographer.

The Pequod website as a whole broadens out from the concerns of the blog, with academic essays, creative writing and a daily photoblog.
